Black Sand Beach

This was on our way to the volcano. We enjoyed visiting with our Hawaiian cousins. We even got to walk in the dark down a road the volcano had been erupting over recently. Ashley told us stories of how he got so close they could throw quarters in and watch them melt. Now, when we were there we could see the red flow down a nearby hill but it was not that close due to saftey concerns. Robbie was pretty disappointed. I think we were all hoping it would be a spraying of lava. Funniest things said on the vacation.

1. Maddie after taking a nap thought she was seeing the sunrise not set. She exclaimed" it's still today?"

2. Robbie at the end of the volcano walk "that's it?"

3. Grammie "I'm not a team player!"

4. Me " I like it when someone is swimming out further, like a snack or warning."

5. Grammie " I don't burn."

Hawaii 2010

We even brought Grammie and Pappa. The beaches were all amazing. We went to almost every beach down the the west coast. There was one beach that was closed that had a sign letting you know what kinds of weapons you were allowed to use for personal safety from the wildlife , aka, "sharks". There were different zones to let you know how safe it was and how big your speargun should be. Now, I Jenna "Sharkspertise" knows all kinds of interesting facts about which sharks like to eat people. I find it thrilling. I was so busy trying to win our ongoing photography "award" that I missed the sign. I was not told about this info until bedtime...so i wouldn't ruin any fun.

10 Year Anniversary

Well, Rob and I celebrated 10 Years of marriage this year. We decided it would be a lot more fun to bring the kids. So, off to Hawaii we all went. It was the best vacation I think I have ever had. We snorkled, swam and made beautiful sand castles. We ate yummy food, learned a hula, and laughed so much my tummy was sore. The kids had the best time and we all came back relaxed. I have even managed to keep my watch off my wrist which is really an incredible feat for somone as uptight as me! Aloha. Now, we are dreaming of ways we can go live there. Our long term plan involves being residents so the kids can get into BYU Hawaii and we can be nearby while they go "away" to college. You've got to dream big.

Easter was spent at Grammie and Pappa's. Aunt Roe and Uncle Tom finally got home from Az. The Hansen's came and the kids had a blast. It was the fastest egg hunt I've ever seen . Over 12o eggs found in what seemed like 5 minutes. There were squeals of delight all day long. Having more kids made it even more special.

Maddie and Aunt Faye got to color with the "thing From Tv" Maddie knew just what it was. She still loves it and plays with it often. Thanks Uncle Matthew and Aunt Faye.

Easter

Christmas we had a visit with GG, Aunt Faye and Uncle Matthew. He shared one of his many talents of decorating a tree like no other! The kids were enthralled by every move he made. Robbie was very upset that GG didnt stay here in WA he worries about her. We had a nice visit.

Maddie's Day

This is Maddie and her beloved friend Charlotte. She wakes up everyday and yells "its sunny time". Which means get up everyone. After she eats she usually asks if it is a good day for a play date with her best friend. They take ballet together and if it were up to Maddie the only clothes you would need would be swimsuits, ballet outfits and beautiful dresses!
